Let us therefore rely upon the goodness of the Cause, and the aid of the supreme Being, in whose hands Victory is, to animate and encourage us to great and noble Actions - The Eyes of all our Countrymen are now upon us...

Response to: County Democrats plan series of rallies
Published as a press release in the local Bastrop County papers, the week of 17 April, 2006.

Commentary: The point publishing the Democrat press release below is to beg the question: What are the Republicans doing?  The answer to that is apparently -- nothing, other than having two lengthy meeting a month between the party and the Republican women.

The Bastrop County Republican party under the chairmanship of Bob Long is more concerned with maintaining a decrepit headquarters office and ensuring Long's favorite candidates for state party office (State Republican Executive Committee, Party chair and vice chair, etc.) are promoted at party meetings rather than planning a long-term strengthening of the Bastrop County Repubpican Party.

Where are the Republican rallies?  Where is the outreach?  Where is the BCRP recruiting young people to swell the ranks.

Nowhere.

Bastrop County Democratic Club plans to stage a series of mini-rallies throughout the county beginning April 28 at the Red Rock Community Center.

A total of six rallies will be held in Cedar Creek, Smithville, Lost Pines, Lake Bastrop Acres, Elgin and Bastrop.

The series will culminate in a major rally in Bastrop in October, just before the general election.

The rallies will showcase local, state and national candidates and incumbents.  The meetings seek to energize the grassroots movement of the Democratic party and inform citizens about the Democratic platform.

The Red Rock rally will include precincts of Red Rock, Rockne and Rosanky.  Hot dogs, drinks and refreshments will be provided from 6-8 p.m.

Scheduled to attend are County Judge Ronnie McDonald and Precinct 3 Commissioner John Klaus.  Democratic Precinct 3010 chair Linda Laughinghouse will host the rally.
