Subject Matter Expert: Hazardous Materials, Surface and Air Transforation
Interview concerning the 2023 East Palestine, Ohio Train Derailment where tons of volitile and poisonous vinyl chloride was improperly burned and contaminated thousands of square miles of agriculural land.

Member: Bastrop Community Emergency Response Team (CERT),  Citizens On Patrol (COP), Bastrop Sheriffs Office.

County Commissioner, Precinct Three.  (Cedar Creek, Red Rock, Rockne, Stony Point)  Elected in 2000 general election, took office 1 January, 2001, served through 31 December, 2004.

Volunteer Fireman. (2004-2018 Firefighter II rating achieved in 2016. Joined Bluebonnet Volunteer Fire Department in 2004, and is now Bastrop County Emergency Service District #1. Served as President, BBVFD Board of Directors, and Fire Commissioner, BCESD #1.

Congressional staff. Special Assistant to Congressman Ron Paul (1997).  Responsible for national security issues, veterans' congressional case work and local government/service organization interface.  Chairman, Military Service Academy Nominations Committee. Surrogate speaker for 1996 & 1998 campaigns.

Businessman. Don-A-Bar LLC, Business property managment. (1992-Present). 

Military:
Texas State Guard, 1997-2010. Lieutenant Colonel, 2d Regiment,
Served as Deputy Commander of the Second Regiment, then as Commander of the 2d Battalion.
Served on State Active Duty in Operations Hurricanes Katrina, Rita abd Ike and was awarded the Commanding General's Individual Award, the Meritorious Service Award and the Humanitarian Service Award for his actions during those historic Texas State military actions.


Bastrop County Veterans Honor Guard 2001-present. U.S. Department of Defense Certified Provider of Military Funerals, provided over 300 military funerals and memorials for veterans interred in Bastrop County and nearby. (The Honor Guard has provided over 3,000 Bastrop County military funerals)

USAF 1970-1992. Command Pilot; Fighter Pilot, Instructor Pilot & Test Pilot; Flew F-111 series jet fighter (F-111A/D/E/F). Last man to fly the F-111 at Mach 2.5.
Assignments: Webb AFB, Big Spring, Texas;  Nellis AFB, Nevada; Mountain Home AFB, Idaho; Royal Air Force Upper Heyford, England; Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, Texas; Cannon AFB, New Mexico; Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England; Bergstrom AFB, Austin, Texas. 

Operational and training deployments to: Alaska, Korea, Australia, Turkey, Italy, Germany, and Spain. 

Decorations: Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award W/8 devices, Combat Readiness Medal W/2 devices, National Defense Service Medal W/1 device, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon W/1 device, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon W/4 devices, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon W/1 device, Air Force Training Ribbon; Texas State Guard Awards: Commanding General's Individual Award, Meritorious Service Award, and the Humanitarian Service Award.

Donald served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Texas State Guard. He served as Deputy Commander , 2nd Regiment and Commander of the 2d Battalion.

The Texas State Guard is wholly owned and controlled by the State of Texas and has no federal connections. No soldier can be "called-up" for duty outside Texas. TxSG HQ is at Camp Mabry, Austin. Soldiers serve without compensation.
